Anybody can fall ill with a psychosis! The possibility of this occurring is part of a person’s basic expression profile. To a certain extent, everybody has passed through a preliminary stage as a child; at two to three years old, due to our limited neurological and psychic development, we cannot yet perceive the world as anything other than in relation to ourselves. Correspondingly, a child feels guilty about an argument between its parents.
Subject to certain preconditions, some people fall ill more rapidly with a psychotic disorder; others by contrast only at times of massive psychic and physical stress. Women fall ill less frequently than men. Various risk factors exist, which induce an increased susceptibility (“vulnerability”) to the development of psychoses.
